Bryan Hulbert – HAYS, Kan. (April 26, 2022) Getting the 2022 season rolling this past weekend in Dodge City, Kan., the Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford is back in action on Saturday, April 30 at Rolling Plains Motor Speedway in Hays, Kan.

Better known as RPM Speedway, not to be confused with the Texas facility, the three-eighths-mile, high-banked oval has been a staple of the United Rebel Sprint Series schedule since the tour’s inception. The third facility to host the tour in 2006, Jon Johnson captured the win over Justin Schwein and Larry Radcliff. Last on track in July 2021; the Wheat Shocker Nationals weekend was split between Jason Martin and Ty Williams.

Steven Richardson assumes the early point’s lead over Jake Martens after the season-opening win at Dodge City. Third is currently held by Zach Blurton, followed by Ty Williams and Taylor Velasquez to make up the current top five.

Saturday, April 30 at RPM Speedway, open at 4:00 P.M. for teams to begin pulling in. Grandstands open at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Grandstand tickets are $10, Senior (65+) are $5, Kids 12 and under, and Military (active or retired) with ID are free. Pit Passes are $30 for anyone 14 or older. Youth (6-13) are $10, and Kids under five are free.

The Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford will be joined by the track’s weekly IMCA divisions (Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, Sport Mods, Stock Cars, and Modifieds) as well as the Cruisers.

RPM Speedway is located at the Ellis County Fairgrounds (1344 Fairground Rd. Hays, KS 67601). Information on the facility, including the complete 2022 lineup, is online at https://www.myracepass.com/tracks/2464. More updates are available on the track’s Facebook page or by calling (620) 560-9396.

Fans not able to attend URSS events in 2022 can see them live on http://www.racindirt.com.

The United Rebel Sprint Series sanctions RaceSaver Sprint Car racing across Kansas, southern Nebraska, and Western Missouri. For more information, find the series on Facebook or log onto http://www.unitedrebelsprintseries.com.
